Getting To Keswick Island

Keswick Island is located 32kms NE of Mackay. Travel to the island is via private boat (~1hr), plane charter or helicopter (~15 mins). Local airlines flying to Keswick Island are Horizon Airlines: (07) 4957-2446 and Whitsunday Helicopters: (07) 4953-3061.

For interstate or overseas travellers, Mackay Airport is located in town, and the nearest international airports are Cairns to the north, and Brisbane to the south.

There are no shops on Keswick Island, therefore it makes good sense to bring any extra 'essentials' that you might require with you. Please note that the shops in Mackay are not open on Sundays. The Big Bear Shopping Centre is open towards the Mackay Marina, and Sarina shops to the south are open on Sundays. If you wish to order and purchase food in advance, you can find local companies on the Internet, call to place your order, and have it delivered to the airport (off Casey Avenue, Mackay) to come over to the island with you.

Water temperatures are usually around 26ºC in summer, and 20ºC in winter. Wet season is usually around Jan-March each year. June is the coldest month with temperatures going down to ~15ºC, and summer months enjoy a temperate 30ºC on average.

Recommended clothing is light, casual wear with warmer coverings during the winter months.
